Cut Copy

Cut Copy are back. The first single from their sophomore album, "Hearts on Fire," will be released in Australia in February. They describe the single as "a cosmic dance anthem laced with references to 90’s saxophone visionary Guru Josh." That's spot-on. "Hearts on Fire" sounds phenomenal, and has the typical Cutter electro sound, but throws in some KTU-clubland synths and Rob Base-esque "whoo-yeah" samples, along with the aformentioned sax spots, which sound a lot like Duran Duran Rio saxes, and some nice bass chords at the end. In short, another expectledly awesome Cut Copy song. They're touring Australia in February. Hopefully they'll be back in the States soon, as their show at the Bowery with The Rapture may have been one of the top five shows I've ever seen.

You can hear "Hearts on Fire" here. Also, they did a mix compliation for the Fabric series. Great stuff - mixing together Goldfrapp, New Young Pony Club, Daft Punk, The Presets, and themselves, among others.
